A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation is a reliable method for obtaining information about an individual’s current cognitive and emotional functioning. Services available for ages 3 to 90+.

Strengths and weaknesses are identified, and the individual’s cognitive profile is considered in relation to all pertinent medical, developmental, emotional and psychosocial factors for one or more of the following purposes:

  • NSNeuro_Evaluations3Diagnosis: To answer questions about dementia, ADHD, learning disabilities and other conditions that depend on a formal assessment for proper diagnosis; and for clarification of cognitive functioning in individuals with neurological or medical conditions potentially affecting cognition (e.g., MS, Parkinson’s disease).
  • Rehabilitation/Treatment: To clarify functioning following a brain injury, stroke, cancer treatment, cardiac surgery, or other conditions in which improvement over time is expected.
  • NSNeuro_Evaluations2Psychovocational / Return to Work: To help with vocational planning for individuals with disabilities, and to help improve the chances of a successful return to work for individuals who have experienced a brain injury or other condition affecting cognition.
  • Psychoeducational: To clarify the factors affecting a student’s performance in school and to provide recommendations designed to optimize his or her functioning in school and in daily life.
  • Insurance-related: To provide an independent evaluation of an individual’s current functioning as part of an Independent Medical Examination or disability evaluation.
  • Competency: To help answer questions relating to an individual’s need for a guardian or a personal representative.
  • Forensic / Medicolegal / Personal Injury: To clarify an individual’s current functioning and to provide an opinion regarding the factors affecting his or her current functioning and expected course of recovery. Neuropsychological evaluations are commonly requested in personal injury cases involving brain injury.

Assessment procedures include paper-and-pencil measures, computerized tests, and questionnaires/rating scales, conducted personally by the neuropsychologist or by a testing assistant. There are no invasive or painful measures, and every effort is made to ensure the individual’s comfort throughout the procedures.
