Welcome to North Shore Neuropsychology and the North Shore Memory Clinic, located in West Vancouver, BC, offering comprehensive neuropsychological assessment services for children age 3+ to adults age 90+.

What is Neuropsychology?

Neuropsychology is the study of specific psychological processes and behaviours as they relate to the structure and function of the brain.
For individuals who are experiencing – or worry they may be experiencing – changes or problems in their thinking, daily skills, or behaviour, a neuropsychological evaluation can provide valuable information. Formal testing clarifies current strengths and weaknesses with respect to memory and thinking skills, daily functioning, academic skills (when relevant) and emotional functioning. This information is then used in diagnosis and treatment planning, and to guide educational and vocational planning. Test results are considered in relation to the person’s age, medical history, educational background, and work history, and recommendations are offered to address problem areas and to make the best use of existing strengths.

Is this for you?

Do you have questions about memory loss or dementia? Concerns about the effects of a brain injury or concussion? Has a neurological, medical, or other problem disrupted your thinking or functioning enough to affect your work, school or daily life? If so, a neuropsychological evaluation may provide you with the information you need to take control of your situation, obtain the right kind of help, and move forward with confidence.

Might Your Child Benefit from an Evaluation?

Are you concerned about your child’s performance at school or their behaviour at home? Has your child experienced a brain injury, cancer, or other serious medical problem? Wondering about ADHD, learning difficulties, a mental health issue, or autism spectrum disorder*? Or maybe you are just feeling that something is “off”? A neuropsychological evaluation provides much more information about a child’s strengths and weaknesses than a standard psychoeducational assessment, takes into consideration all relevant medical, psychiatric, and developmental issues, and offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment guidance. *We cannot currently diagnose ASD in children under 18, but will consider this diagnosis and make clear when a further, specialized ASD assessment would be helpful.
